My Angel

Angel is very special to us.  He was the first dachshund that we got after Sandee.  Sandee is 12 years old and she is doing great.   Everyone loves her.

But back to Angel.  He is our "Alpha" male.  We have used Angel in our breeding program 5 times.  He has produced some gorgeous cream babies.   But alas, we no longer are using him in our breeding program.

I feel very fortunate that we have Angel, and that he is doing absolutely great after all the problems that we have endured in the last several years.

In the beginning of August of 2008, around the 9th or 10th Angel started favoring his left leg.  No big deal, we thought he might be getting arthritis.  When we would pick him up he would cry.   So a couple of days later we took him in to see the vet.  The vet thought that it might be his back.  Again, no big deal, but he put him on previcox and said that this would help with the pain and should take care of his problems.  He said to bring him back in 2 weeks to see how he was doing.  We were never told to crate him.  We were never told to keep him quiet and limit his movements.

About 5 days later he was worse.  Again we took him into the vet.  He actually was dragging his back legs to move around.

Angel's back has gone out a total of 3 times now.  As a result of this we decided that traditional medicine is not sticking, so we have opted for another course.  We are doing homeopathy for Angel now, & he is doing great.
