We
bought “Noodles” from
Eastfront Delldachs
about 5 years ago. We paid $1200 for her with full AKC
registration to be able to breed her. She was about 11 months old
when she went into her first heat cycle. Not knowing much about
breeding we just waited for her to go into her second heat cycle.
About a year later she went into heat again. Different breeders
told me that some dogs only go into heat once a year. I spoke with
2(two) different Vets that confirmed that. We were going to breed
her with another breeders’ male. We waited until what we were told
was the right time to take her over there, and to make a long story
short, nothing happened. We kept checking her, hoping that she was
pregnant, and nothing changed. One of the times that we were
checking her, we noticed that down by her groin there was a lump.
We immediately took her into the Vet and was told that she had
2(two) inguinal hernias. We then
took her to another Vet that confirmed that she did indeed have
inguinal hernias. Then I proceeded to do a search on inguinal
hernias. I found out that inguinal hernias are definitely
hereditary. So we proceeded to have the hernias repaired, and also
had “Noodles” spayed. We did not feel comfortable passing on the
defect to her offspring.
The Vet also
told us that it was a godsend that she did not get pregnant at that
time. God only knows what could have happened.
Before we had
the surgery done, I then contacted the breeder: Debra Coverdell who
owns and operates Eastfront Delldachs. Debra was always so helpful
when I was purchasing dogs from her. I have bought 3 miniature
dachshunds from her totaling approximately $3800. Needles to say
she was not so helpful when I told her about “Noodles”. She
basically played dumb, and refused to make anything right.
Buying a dog to
use for breeding, and paying so much for the dog has been a great
learning experience. I posted the kennel name on our website, and
have had several calls about “Noodles”.
I guess from
other people’s experience, you could say that I was the one that got
off lucky. She has since: “Gone Out of Business”. If you believe
that, which I don’t. Totally my opinion. Oh, yea, BTW, the other
person that had such a horrible experience did report her to the
BBB. I’m just glad she isn’t producing as many mini doxies. The
only problem is, she’s now breeding horses. Buyer beware!!!
